Xochi

To Bloom, To Catch Fire

Xochi, pronounced so-chee, takes its name from Xochitl, Goddess of the Flowers, meaning to bloom or catch fire. Led by award-winning Chef Hugo Ortega and the H Town Restaurant Group team, Xochi celebrates the culinary and indigenous richness of Oaxaca, Mexico through food, drink, tradition, and hospitality. Every detail is rooted in craft, from housemade moles and handmade masa to roasted cacao, mezcal, wood-fired dishes, and warm service in the heart of downtown Houston.

Meet for happy hour across from Discovery Green, Monday–Friday 4–6 PM and Saturday 3–6 PM. Saturday brunch runs 11:30 AM–3 PM, and the Sunday Brunch Buffet brings live music from 11:30 AM to 2 PM.

Cacao

The combination of chocolate, mouse, fruity elements and crunchy bits made it look and taste interesting and enticing. I love how much thought went into the presentation with all the different layers, textures and colors. It's the kind of dessert you want to admire for a moment before digging in. Really good balance of sweetness with a hint of fruity tartness. It was beautifully presented, very good way to end a meal. (My son was very stoked on the edible cocoa pod btw)

Recently went to xochi since we were missing OAXACA after going there on our vacation. Speachless on the flavoring and taste of the food. Everything is authentic and in some cases way better. We've been coming here for all our anniversaries and will continue to.

Callo de Hacha

This dish is what dreams are made of! 🤍 The scallops were cooked to absolute perfection, and the cornbread was such a surprisingly delicious pairing that made the dish even more memorable. Every bite was incredible, and the staff was just as amazing as the food—warm, attentive, and genuinely wonderful. Callo de Hacha absolutely delivered an unforgettable dining experience. I would come back just for this dish alone!
